Der in Borland Delphi programmierte Total Commander ist der wohl bekannteste Klon des Norton Commanders. Das Programm kann auf vielseitige Weise an die Bedürfnisse des Nutzers angepasst werden und lässt sich vollständig über die Tastatur steuern, wobei, wie bei anderen Klonen auch, die Tastenbelegung am Norton Commander orientiert sind.
Es bietet unter anderem folgende Funktionalitäten:

Über die Plugin-Unterstützung ist die Einbindung externer Plugins als auch normaler Programme (zum Beispiel Editor) möglich. Der integrierte Viewer nutzt auf Wunsch bei installiertem Irfanview dessen Routinen zur Bilddarstellung.

Use Shift+Del to remove unwanted entries from various comboboxes: Command line, search function, multi-rename-tool etc
Secure FTP over SSL/TLS, enter the URL as follows: ftps://ftp.servername.com . Needs openssl dlls stored in Totalcmd directory (not included for legal reasons)
