Im Vergleich zu der im Dezember erschienenen Version 5.12 enthält Winamp 5.2 diverse Bugfixes und kleinere Verbesserungen. Hinzu kommt auch noch eine Neuerung: Winamp unterstützt nunmehr portable Musikgeräte. Die in Winamp enthaltene Medienbibliothek ("Media Library", Hotkey: Alt+L) kann zum Synchronisieren mit solchen Geräte genutzt werden. Die neue Funktion ist kompatibel zu Apples Ipods, Playern von Creative und Geräten, die Microsofts "Plays for Sure"-Logo tragen.
