Fragen zu aktuellen Sicherheitsupdates - Dezember 2006

Hallo,

zu der Installation der aktuellsten Windows XP Sicherheitsupdates für den Dezember 2006 habe ich folgende Fragen >

Frage 1. > KB925398 ist ein Sicherheitsupdate für den Windows Media Player 6.4.
Auf meinem Windows XP Professional SP2 hat der aktuelle Windows Media Player die Version 9.00.00.3349.
Ich denke, dass daher die Installation dieses Sicherheitsupdates KB925398 nicht notwendig sein wird, bzw. gar nicht möglich ist.
Sehe ich die Sache richtig (... denn oft liegt da ja noch ein Hund begraben ...) ?

Frage 2. > KB926247 ist ein Sicherheitsupdate für Windows XP. Dieses Sicherheitsupdate konnte auf mein System nicht installiert werden.

Folgende Fehlermeldung wurde generiert >
"Setup cannot continue because one or more prerequisites required to install KB926247 failed.

Diesem Sicherheitsupdate fehlt mindestens eine Komponente, die auf meinem Rechner nicht installiert wurde und zwar ist das >
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\snmp.exe is Not Present"

Um welche Komponente handelt es sich hier ?
Habt Ihr ähnliche Erfahrungen bei der Installation dieses Sicherheitsupdates gemacht ?
Kann ich die Installation dieses Sicherheitsupdates beruhigt vergessen ?

Frage 3. > KB925454 ist ein Sicherheitsupdate für Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Dieses Update konnte problemlos und ohne Fehlermeldungen auf mein System installiert werden.

Ich stelle mir nun die Frage, ob diese dreizehn "Error" Einträge bedenklich sind und weshalb diese Errors auftraten.
Habt Ihr auf Euren Systemen ebenfalls diese Error Einträge und seht die Sache gelassener als ich ... !?
Wie schon zuvor erwähnt, so konnte dieses Sicherheitsupdate ohne Auffälligkeiten auf meinem Rechner installiert werden trotz der dreizehn "Error" Einträge !

Von Hand ist wirklich umständlich .. Natürlich brauchst Du ein Sicherheitsupdate nur, wenn Du die entsprechende Komponente, die dieses Update braucht, auch wirklich installiert hast.
SNMP wird in der Regel dazu verwendet Status & Alert Traps (Meldungen) von aktiven Netzwerkkomponenten zu verschicken und z.B. auf einem Syslog Server zu sammeln und auszuwerten. Für den normalen Gebrauch Unsinn, daher passt das bei Dir schon ... Wenn Du eine neuere Version des MediaPlayers hast, dann erkennt das der WHL Updater bzw. die Windows Update Seite schon und es wird automatisch nicht installiert.

Wenn Du nähere Infos bzgl. SNMP haben willst, dann kannst Du Dich mal bei Wikipedia umschauen .. Die dortigen Erklärungen sind nicht schlecht, aber wie gesagt, dass Protokoll brauchst Du garantiert nicht.

Vor wenigen Monaten war mir der Begriff "Microsoft Sicherheitsupdates" tatsächlich noch ein Fremdwort. Erst nach mehreren fatalen Viren- und Trojanerbefällen trotz eines anerkannten Antivirenprogrammes habe ich die Sinnhaftigkeit dieser Sicherheitsupdates verstanden.

Da ich auch sehr wahrscheinlich ein äusserst hinterfragender und kontrollierender Menschentyp bin, kam mir die "Schritt für Schritt" Installation der Post SP2 Security-Updates sehr entgegen.

Ich hoffe sehr, dass ich mir dadurch nicht den Grant des HeikoBerlins auf mich ziehe, der in einer wunderbaren Art und Weise und auf hohem computertechnischen Niveau den Sicherheits-Updater managt - vielen Dank an dieser Stelle nochmals an den Heiko für seine Arbeit !

Lasst mir also noch ein wenig Zeit, bevor ich endgültig Heiko's Sicherheits-Updater einsetzen werde. Bis dahin finde ich derzeit noch die "Schritt für Schritt" Installation jedes einzelnen Security-Updates für mich lehrreicher >>

Ich habe jetzt auch dieses Sicherheitsupdate für den Windows Media Player installiert. Die Installation verlief ohne Fehlermeldungen. Was ich jedoch noch immer nicht verstanden habe ist die von Microsoft in diesem Update angegebene Version des Media Player 6.4 . Mein Windows Media Player hat die Version 9.00.00.3349 . Der Installer hat sich aber hinsichtlich dieses Sachverhaltes nicht aufgeregt und hat die Inst. auch nicht vorzeitig abgebrochen. Ist das so OK oder hätte ich lieber nicht dieses Sicherheitsupdate für den Windows Media Player installieren sollen !?

Aus persönlichem Interesse habe ich mir zum ersten Mal die LogFiles der sechs installierten Sicherheitsupdates (Dezember 2006) unter die Lupe genommen. Dabei fand ich heraus, dass bei jedem der sechs installierten Sicherheitsupdates in deren LogFiles "Error" Meldungen aufscheinen.

Diese Error Meldungen sind bei allen LogFiles der sechs Sicherheitsupdates in der Regel sehr ähnlich und sehen so aus >

An dieser Stelle möchte ich Euch ersuchen nachzuschauen, ob diese Error-Meldungen auch in Euren LogFiles dieser sechs Security-Updates auftreten.

Sind diese Error-Meldungen Eurer Meinung nach bedenklich? Vielleicht hat sich der eine oder die andere mit diesem Sachverhalt schon befasst und kann mir hoffentlich beruhigende Worte mitteilen, was meine zwei Fragen anlangt !?

Geh' auf die Windows Update Seite und lass' checken. Musst ja nicht installieren, wenn Dir das suspekt ist. Wenn dort keine wichtigen Updates angeboten werden, dann ist alles in Ordnung. Nicht jede kleine Fehlermeldung in den Logs bedeutet eine Katastrophe.

WMP 9 ist in XP SP2 enthalten und dennoch gibt's das Update für xp sp2:

Das während der Installation die o.g. Fehler in div Logdatei eingetragen werden braucht dich nicht stören solange die Updates erfolgreich installiert werden.
Soweit Überflogen finden sich auch alle bei mir. Einfaches Beispiel: Wenn zur Unterscheidung von zwei Versionen beide abgefragt werden und nur eine da ist, liefert die andere natürlich ein Fehler zurück.

"The update.ver file is not correct" des kb925454 habe ich aber weder mit der dt. noch der engl. Version des Update
und kb926247 brauchst nur wenn SNMP Protokoll (snmp.exe) mittels Windows Komponente aus "Management and Monitoring Tools" hinzugefügt wurde.

KB925398 ist für Media Player 6.4.
Media Player 6.4 hat sich anscheinend in Teilen bei allen weiteren Player Versionen gehalten.
Bei Softwareentwicklungen, die etwas umfangreicher sind, werden durchaus immer alte Komponenten mit geschleppt.
Das heißt, der Update KB925398 passt sowohl für Media Player 6.4 als auch für alle weiteren Versionen bisher; es wird ja auch nicht der ganze Media Player ausgetauscht sondern nur eine kleine (alte) fehlerhafte Komponente aus 6.4 ersetzt.

Bei mir ist der Update drin, obwohl ich den neuesten Media Player haben und ich habe bisher keinen Schaden feststellen können.
