Companies that want to deploy the latest operating systems and applications are often burdened with the work of supporting distribution across the company. The SMS 2003 OS Deployment Feature Pack reduces this burden by providing a customizable, centralized, and scalable way to deploy Windows images.

Note: There is a known issue with installing and uninstalling the OS Deployment Feature Pack that was released on November 15, 2004. When installing or uninstalling the OS Deployment Feature Pack in the same timeframe as making site configuration changes, your SMS Site Control File changes may be reset and some of your configurations may be reverted. We have released an updated OS Deployment Feature Pack on December 17, 2004 that addresses this issue. Customers who have already installed the OS Deployment Feature Pack without incident should still download this new file and run the installation over their previous installation to ensure they do not run into this issue if they choose to uninstall the OS Deployment Feature Pack at a later date.
